Sustainability in focus since start
We put a lot of time, energy and heart into what we do. Naturally, we want our efforts to have strong, lasting and positive effects – on several different levels. Therefore, ever since Odinwell Optical Technology was just a thought, we have had a clear focus on sustainability.
Our view of sustainability is holistic and includes economic, social and environmental aspects. We develop products and solutions that are attractive to our partners, i.e., help them generate profit and move their businesses ahead, while taking into account how our planet and human well-being are affected.
The global goals
In our work, we are inspired by the UN’s global Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to eradicate poverty, stop climate change and create peaceful and secure societies. Odinwell is currently contributing to four of the goals.
3. Good health and well-being
The very core of Odinwell’s business is to develop products and solutions that help people with wounds, especially hard-to-heal wounds, with the right treatment at the right time. In this way, the risks of infections, side effects and lengthy treatments can be reduced. With more efficient and personalized wound care, caregivers can find more time for more demanding tasks and more hospital beds may be made available.
Since Odinwell’s thin sensor layers can be mass-produced, and cost-effectively integrated into the wound care companies’ existing products, there is great potential for reaching out and helping a large number of people, all over the world, who today are in great need of improved wound care. There is also a great potential for healthcare to save costs and more fairly distribute resources.
8. Decent working conditions and economic growth
At Odinwell we care about our employees. It’s the fundament of our culture. Together we strive to create well-being and job satisfaction. Everyone is subject to the same rights and obligations. We also protect the right of association and follow the Work Environment Act. Everyone has the right to parental leave with compensation for loss of income.
9. Sustainable industry, innovation and infrastructure
Sustainability is part of our identity and a natural part of our innovation process. Already when we evaluate ideas, we choose materials that are easy to use and recycle. We do not use prohibited materials. In addition, we analyze how production can be made as efficient as possible, without waste or unnecessary energy use, and how the final product can be recycled. We primarily use digital platforms for our meetings and travel only when these prove insufficient for the task in question.
12. Responsible consumption and production
Today, it is not possible to know with certainty when a wound care patch or bandage must be changed. With smart wound care dressings, caregivers gain a greater understanding of the status of a covered wound and know whether the dressing needs to be changed or not. This makes it possible to reduce unnecessary use of wound dressings. Odinwell’s optical sensor layers do not contain any metals or electronics, which means they do not impact usage and recycling of the wound care dressing.
We do not test our products on animals. All our clinical examinations will be planned and carried out according to ethical principles based on the Declaration of Helsinki and in compliance with ICH’s principles for good clinical practice and applicable laws and recommendations in the countries where they are performed. Furthermore, we will comply with all legal and regulatory requirements for clinical trials, product development, production, product declaration, sales and marketing.
